"Plug It In"
JC's
collaboration with Basement Jaxx was released on 3/29/2004 as
the third UK single from their album Kish Kash. It was accompanied
by a quirky video directed by the same team that created the "monkey" video
for the Basement Jaxx hit "Where's Your Head At?" and quickly reached the
top of the dance charts in the UK. Look here
for more reviews of JC's work with Basement Jaxx. |

The way his voice is used it almost sounds like something you would hear
out of Prince. |

JC screams "Plug it in bayyyybeee!!!" like he's the love child of unspeakable
things that Electric Six did to one another. |

This time around,
'N Sync's JC Chasez handles microphone duties. And if you didn't
know better, you would have no idea it was him. His vocals, which go from
a sneer to a howl, perfectly suit the caustic, in-your-face beats. |

Chasez's twitchy, camp-as-Christmas delivery flounces around on top of a
bone-headed electro-punk stomp that would be rubbish if you tried to do it
with guitars but manages to sound pretty fine just as it is. |

Featuring the electrifying vocal stylings of N'Sync's JC Chavez (finally,
a boy-band member with some semblance of talent!), 'Plug It In' is a powerhouse
rave anthem that's guaranteed to turn even John Deasy into an E'd up
lunatic. |

In the Mix
'Plug It In' opens with the Jaxx's familiar electronic bleeps and percussive
Latin-tinged house beats before former N*Sync member JC Chasez's guest lead
vocals drop in, singing in a street-soul style that's one part Michael Jackson
- one part Prince. |

Featuring N-Sync member JC Chasez, it's an ecstatic collision of pop punk
hollering turbo rave anthem. |

Plug It In is a very funky slice of manic boogie action...An enormous smash
in a fair and just world. |

Nightlife Music Video
The song is the third killer single to be lifted from the duos
third album Kish Kash and features the pop punk hollering of N-Syncs
JC Chasez. This track has all the makings of a classic Jaxx assault on the
dancefloors and our musical subconscious. |

NME
Glibly, 'Plug It In' sounds like a selection of great Jaxx tracks - from
'Rendez-Vu' to 'Where's Your Head At?' - played simultaneously, with JC Chasez
(Justin Timberlake's old sparring partner in 'NSync) lisping dangerously
over the top. |

Basement Jaxx's bass and drum programming keeps everything in line and everyone
dancing. |

It's an unadulterated, joyous record, with fantastic wibbles, vocoders,
explosions, a pumping, pulsating beat and vocals that make the track sound
pretty much like the best Prince record Prince never got round to making.

It's a rapturous impact of pop punk hollering turbo rave anthem. All the
hallmarks indicate yet another Jaxx assault is on the way! |

Imagine a swarm of synthesized elephant bees flying around a Michael Jackson
concert, and crushing the stage while Mike tries to sing them away using
only his very squeakiest squeaks. |

I wasn't a fan of either of this song's predecessors, but this one is simply
in a league of its own. JC should move into dance more permanently - judging
by this funky track, his voice couldn't suit it better. |

UK-Fusion
'Plug It In' is unashamedly an electro party anthem with shades of Prince,
a healthy dose of rock guitars and JC Chasez from NSync on vocals. |
