Actually, I loved it. We were like sponges-we were really able to appeciate it. We lived a dream, a full life in a matter of years. In South Africa, we go to go swimming in two oceans, the Indian and the Atlantc, within an hour. In a boy band, in terms of imagination, the sky was the limit. Other genres worry about looking cheesy. But if we could think it, we tried it. If there was a new product, we’d stick it in our hair. If there was something ridiculous to wear, we’d wear it because we thought it was cool to stand out. We were so excited about being onstage, we’d wear snakeskin pants when we were in our hometowns with everyone else in khaki pants.

The music behind the star

Pop star JC Chasez’s latest release Some Girls has taken Portugal by storm, reaching number one in last week’s Kiss FM column. Like every star, JC travels with an entourage of assistants and musicians. The Resident spoke with Colin McCan, a session musician from the UK, who performed on the drums alongside JC during his recent UK promotional tour.

How did you get into being a session musician?
I’ve always loved playing musical instruments and knew from a very early age that my career would be involved in music in some way. I studied at the Royal College of Music and graduated with honours in 1999. It basically went from there.

According to FMQB, the first single from JC’s new album will be available for airplay on mainstream radio on 8/14/06.
