J.C. Chasez works with Timberlake

J.C. Chasez is working with band mate Justin Timberlake for the release of his sophomore album.

Though they’ve finished recording the album, no title has been released yet. The album is known to be released in the first quarter of 2007.

Chasez’s debut album ‘Schizophrenic’ released three years ago, the album may have come out before it’s time as the album consisted of 15 very unique sounding tracks.

He mentions that he took a risk artistically and the album didn’t do as well as he would have hoped.

Although unique, the album hadn’t achieved the type of success that friend Justin Timberlake has experienced with his new album also containing very unique sounding songs.

Chasez wrote and co-wrote all the song on the new album, he feels more freedom being able to write for himself as a solo artist rather than creating the song based on the image of a band in reference to his time with the band ‘N Sync .

Working on the album, the singer recruited producers such as Timbaland, Dallas Austin, and Jimmy Harry to lend their talents in producing the tracks.

The first single from the album is called ‘Until Yesterday’. It was co written by Chasez’s Justin Timberlake and if you do hear it, you’ll will notice JT’s influence in the song.

The two friends also wrote several songs though it is not know which tracks will make the cut.

Both are the only band members successfully leading solo careers. Chasez mentions that himself and JT always want to see other doing well and that they feed off of each other’s success.

Our Thoughts
We seem be entering a period of experimental artists. New sounds, and fusing genres may change the future of what we know now as pop.

JC Chasez Gets Help from Timberlake, Timbaland

J.C. Chasez Gets Help From Timberlake, Timbaland For Upcoming Record
Jennifer Fong

J.C. Chasez is hoping Justin Timberlake isn’t the only ‘N Sync-er who can make it big with a solo career. The 30-year-old former boybander has just finished recording his second solo album, set to be released early next year on Jive Records.

Chasez told Billboard he wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the as-yet-untitled album, which he worked on with celebrity producers Timbaland (who also masterminded Timberlake’s current number one, “FutureSex/LoveSounds”), Dallas Austin, and Jimmy Harry.

The first single from the sophomore release will be “Until Yesterday,” one of several tracks Chasez co-wrote with Timberlake. He’s not sure whether any of the others will appear on the upcoming record yet, but the single will hit radio Oct. 20.

While he and Timberlake are clearly still good friends, Chasez added it is unlikely ‘N Sync will be making a comeback as a group. “We had a great time, but we’re in different places in our minds now,” he told Billboard. “It ran its course. It’s like, ok, we went to high school, and now it’s over.”

Chasez’s first solo effort, 2004’s “Schizophrenic,” peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

Idolator Goes Radio Ga Ga For JC Chasez’s New Single

JC Chasez is pretty much absolved for his boy-band sins for two reasons: his idea to sample Pac-Man on N’Sync’s “The Game Is Over” and his over-the-top turn on the Basement Jaxx’s “Plug It In.” (We’ll even forgive him for his dalliance with Tara Reid.) Now, we have “Until Yesterday,” which was co-written with ex-bandmate Justin Timberlake. It’s a doozy–prepare yourself for a stomping take on the power ballad, complete with sorta corny lyrics, a Freddie Mercury-channeling backing choir, military drums, and a fist-raising run-up to the final chorus.

Snap judgment: JC Chasez’s ‘Until Yesterday’
Michael Slezak

Let me preface my remarks about JC Chasez’s new single, ”Until Yesterday” (co-written by fellow ‘N Sync alum Justin Timberlake) by saying that I’m probably one of 11 people on the planet who still listens to the guy’s first solo disc, 2004’s Schizophrenic. And while ”Until Yesterday” (click here to hear it streaming at AOL Music) has an undeniably driving beat and a sticks-in-your-head melody that converge and build to a very dramatic crescendo (a la ”Cry Me a River”), the lyrics of this single give me uncomfortable cause for pause. Aren’t there ways to sing about paternity drama without resorting to screechingly un-poetic lines like, ”The baby’s not my blood type”? And seriously, JC, when the line ”If you play with fire, then you’ll get burned” is the leadoff batter for your chorus, then perhaps it’s time to set down the pen and back away from the obvious clichés.

Chasez Rolling With Timberlake, Timbaland On New CD
Katie Hasty

jc chasezJC Chasez has just finished recording his sophomore album, due in the first quarter of 2007 via Jive. The as-yet-untitled effort comes three years after his solo debut, “Schizophrenic,” and more than five since ‘N Sync’s last album, “Celebrity.” The 30-year-old wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album and has enjoyed the freedom of “being myself.”

“When you’re in the writing process for yourself, solo, there’s no compromise,” Chasez tells Billboard.com. “Before, you had four other guys you’ve got to pass [the song] by, and everybody has to decide based on the image of the group. It’s not that it was a problem — it was an act of respect. But when you’re [writing solo], everything is essentially you.”

Chasez describes the set as an amalgamation of the many genres he loves, with an emphasis on melodic pop elements. “It establishes a sound that is specific to me, a mash of all things,” he says. “I hope it’ll be fresh for radio and listeners. In ‘97 and ‘98, pop ruled. But now hip-hop is the phenomenon and top 40 radio doesn’t play pop records anymore.”
