DJ: JC Chasez!

JC: How are ya, man.

DJ: I’m doing great. Welcome back!

JC: Thank you very much! Always a pleasure.

DJ: Well, it’s been a while. We were just playing that song, and we were talking about the other songs out of the same.. like “Whoomp! There It Is”…

JC: Oh yeah, and “Ride the Train,” man! Those…

DJ: “Come on, ride the train!

JC: That’s right, that’s the Florida music, dude. I’m from Florida, so…

DJ: It’s all Florida music?

JC: It’s, like, a lot…yeah, the 95 South guys, they’re all…

DJ: Yeah, that’s right, 95…

JC: They’re all Orlando, Florida, so you go to an Orlando Magic game and it’s just like, that’s the stuff, right there. They
played every break they could get, you know.

DJ: So, congratulations, you’re back again!

JC: I am, I’m back again, I got a sophomore record for ya.

DJ: Brand new song?

JC: Yeah, yeah, it’s called Until Yesterday. I co-wrote it and produced it with my buddy Justin Timberlake, who seems to be on fire right now.

DJ: Holy smoke.

JC: He might be, like, the biggest pop artist in the world right now, maybe. [Laughs]

DJ: Yeah. Doing…and now he’s single again.

JC: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he’s single. I saw him a couple of days ago at his show. I went and saw his show, which is phenomenal, so I would say everybody go out and see that show. It’s, it’s unbelievable. He’s playing in the round, the people who do Cirque du Soleil designed the whole show. It’s something else.

DJ: Wow. And he’s already on tour? The tour’s already started?

JC: Yeah, he’s on tour. Yeah, man.

DJ: And the movie, Alpha Dog, is in the movies.

JC: Yeah, he’s, he’s tacklin’ it all. He’s tacklin’ it all.

DJ: And then the - Lance came out.

JC: Yeah.

DJ: [Laughs]

JC: Yeah, you know, he’s had a big year, uh, last year anyway, you know. We’ll see what ‘07 brings him.

DJ: And he’s not going to the moon anymore?

JC: No, he’s not going to the moon anymore, but he’s doing like the whole…he’s got his TV show gettin’ put together, so uh…

DJ: Really?

JC: Yeah, it’s finally comin’ together. They’re shootin’ the pilot and everything like that.

DJ: Now, what about Chris? Where is Chris now?

JC: Chris is actually shooting a show as well. Like, uh, Lance, Joey and Chris are doing, like, TV things now. So, uh, Justin and I, I guess are doing the music and those guys are doing TV.

DJ: Well, Joey was producing stuff, wasn’t he?

JC: He was, and now he’s actually - I might be letting the cat out of the bag, I don’t know - he’s doing Dancing with the Stars.

DJ: NO!

JC: Yeah.

DJ: [Starts laughing]

JC: He told - I literally got off the phone with him yesterday and he was like, “Yeah, I just got the call to do it, so I’m taking a meeting.” I know he’s thinking about doing it, anyway.

DJ: Oh, my…

JC: So I was like, “Man, you know, you better, you better represent, man! You’re kind of a pro, so you’re kinda…if you don’t look good, man, they’re gonna call you on it.” [Laughs]

DJ: Up there with Mario and Jerry Springer and everybody.

JC: Yeah, yeah, he’s up there. Him and Emmitt…Joey and Emmitt

Smith. No, I don’t know.

DJ: We live in a pretty exciting time for pop stuff. I mean, now American Idol’s back on. Paula Abdul’s drunk again or whatever she is.

JC: [Laughs] I was like, “Whoa.”

DJ: She’s on something, she’s gotta be. [Laughing]

JC: Yeah, I don’t know, I saw that thing.

DJ: And the newest thing of course, which we were just talking about - you see it in front of you, the supermarket tabloid which I picked up this afternoon at the supermarket - Britney and Isaac, her brand new boyfriend…

JC: Yeah.

DJ: …on the front page. They broke up last night!

JC: Yeah, who knows, man. You can’t keep up. Uh, that, you know, that’s a whole ‘nother situation.

DJ: You lived around that when she was with Justin.

JC: I did. You know what, but, um, you know, things, things I guess were a lot more calm back then. There were a lot less variables involved, you know what I mean. She’s got a whole ‘nother situation she’s dealing with now.

DJ: And she wore underwear back then. [Laughs]

JC: And uh, she did what her momma told her, you know.

DJ: Well listen, we got people who wanna say hello to you, and we have a bunch of stuff. We wanna play your new song, and…

JC: Yeah, please.

DJ: All right. Open House Party, 800-669-1010. JC Chasez. Don’t go away!

Caller: Hi, um, I just had a question for JC.

DJ: Sure.

Caller: Um, I wanna know the new stuff that’s gonna be on the new album, and also if he’s gonna be doing a tour for us.

JC: Uh, okay, yeah. Um, I hope to be touring…uh, I gotta do this thing called a promo tour, which is what every artist has to do when they release an album…

DJ: Come and see John. [Laughs]

JC: Yeah, you know, so you have to get everybody that you know to listen to the record and take it to all the radio stations. And then, uh, and then yeah, hopefully after that, yeah, I’d love to tour with it. The record is a really interesting record. Um, I like to call it intelligent pop music. Um, it’s just uh, I put a lot of thought in…

DJ: As opposed to “Baby Got Back.” [Laughs]

JC: [Laughs] Yeah, well, you know, but I did, I wanted to make songs that made people think a little bit, you know. ‘Cause everybody’s heard, you know, people break up a thousand times - that song, you know, and everybody’s heard “I’m in love” a thousand times and everybody’s heard “I go into the club” a thousand times. So what I tried to do with each one of those ideas - ’cause you know, those are the lives that we live - is just to try and create interesting situations in all those. Hence the first single is called “Until Yesterday,” it’s a breakup song and yet the reason you break up is because your girlfriend gets knocked up with another dude’s baby. So it’s like…

DJ: Would you like to, would you like to hear the song right now?

Caller: Oh, I would love to. It’s my favorite song right now.

JC: Oh, awesome.

DJ: Wow. All right.

Caller: I’ve been calling up all over requesting it. I think people are getting sick of hearing from me.

JC: [Laughs] I’m not at all! I love ya!

DJ: Where are you calling from?

JC: Boston.

DJ: All right, thanks for calling Open House Party.

Caller: Thank you.

[Until Yesterday is played]

DJ: Open House Party with JC Chasez, his brand new song. Do you ever see the NSYNC guys like, frequently? Or just talk to them on the phone? What do you do?

JC: Uh, yeah I see them. Like I said, I mean, I just saw Justin the other day, I went and saw him at his show and stuff like that, and you know, we chatted it up. I spoke to Joey yesterday on the phone. But we see each other whenever we’re in the same cities.

DJ: So when does your album come out?

JC: The album comes out like, uh, in the spring. Like March, March-April. So yeah.

DJ: All right.

JC: This is, this is my single, man. I’m throwin’ it out there.

DJ: Well, get comfortable, we got people who wanna talk to you as the night goes on.

JC: I’m good.

DJ: Open House Party, 800-669-1010. Say hello to JC Chasez.
