DJ Thomas (female): I’m looking right at him, in his eyes, and the eyes are gorgeous. It’s Mr. JC Chasez, formerly from NSYNC, doin’ his own thing!

JC: Yes indeedy. How are you?

DJT: I’m doin’ good, how are you?

JC: I heard you’re a freak in the afternoon, man! What is that all about?

DJT: [Laughs]

JC: What is that? What is that story?

DJT: Look, don’t you see these stockings?

JC: I’m sayin’, you got fishnets in the daytime!

DJT: Okay? [Laughs]

JC: [Laughing] Hey, hey, I’m just sayin’, hey.

DJT: Yeah, and you’re sayin’ hey because guess what, this is for you. I did this all for you, JC.

JC: I’m, I’m very flattered.

DJT: Are you?

JC: Very flattered, yes.

DJT: I’m excited! Look at you!

JC: Leather and fishnets in the afternoon. It’s my thing. [Laughs]

DJT: Okay, leather with the boots, I got the miniskirt, this is all for you. I do not dress like that. Everyone here in the studio knows that I do not - do I dress like this, guys, all the time? They’re like, “No, no, no!” Dang, they act like a bum. No, normally it’s jeans, but…JC.

JC: Hey.

DJT: Brand new, this is all about you. NSYNC…

JC: It’s my pleasure to be here.

DJT: Thank you!

JC: My pleasure.

DJT: No, because NSYNC was your thing. I mean, we’re talkin’ ‘97, ‘98…this is 2007.

JC: Mm hm.

DJT: And now, JC is doin’ it on his own.

JC: I got some new stuff for you, honey.

DJT: Until Yesterday?

JC: You like that one.

DJT: I like that one.

JC: Yeah, we also played some other music before, huh, you liked that song.

DJT: Yes!

JC: You’re tryin’ - we’re tryin’, you know, just tryin’ to let everybody know what’s goin’ on.

DJT: Yeah, somethin’ new for you. As a matter of fact, anyone that’s listening right now, we got a chance to check out - and a big fat shout-out to everyone that was at the pizza party…

JC: Mm hm.

DJT: …because they got the chance to check out some material that wasn’t even finished yet.

JC: Just board mixes, yeah.

DJT: Look at that. Now how many people on the radio get a chance to check that out?

JC: No, not many. I was, you know - again, we were just kinda like, uh, it was just an idea we had, just to see. We just wanted to give, I guess that’s it, we wanted to give people more, and uh, so I had some of the demos with me and so we just brought them up. I know those songs are going on the record, it’s just a matter of those songs are mixed ones but I didn’t have them with me at the time.

DJT: Right.

JC: It was just kinda like these kids won a contest. Let’s give them something special.

DJT: And you did. And you gave me something special.

JC: Well, hey.

DJT: Well, I mean…[laughs]

JC: Damn. [Laughs]

DJT: No, because there’s one song on there - what’s the name of the track? You wanna let everybody know?

JC: Which one? “Kate”?

DJT: Yes!

JC: Yeah, you like “Kate” huh?

DJT: I like “Kate”!

JC: Yeah, “Kate” - well, Kate is what I’m considering to be an album title, just because I’ve ended up making this whole album about this imaginary kind of muse. I wanted to create an album that had cohesiveness and so I ended up creating a character in my mind to relate to, and so I ended up making a whole album about a girl named Kate. And coincidentally I played you the track that is titled “Kate”.

DJT: Yeah. So, you wanna tell them who Kate really is, JC?

JC: [Laughs]

DJT: Or do you wanna keep that a secret too?

JC: Kate is my afternoon freak, you know what I’m sayin?

DJT: [Laughs and claps] DJ Thomas!

JC: [Laughs]

DJT: No, you made Kate up, and it’s a hot track. And there’s a ballad on there. We even got a chance to check out a ballad. I know that we’re gonna get a chance to check out “Until Yesterday” - I’m gonna play that live on the radio for you guys, so don’t get nervous.

JC: Yeah, yeah.

DJT: But that ballad that you got a chance for us to hear…

JC: Well, it was fun because that song really allowed me the chance to, uh, sing, you know, in all registers. It starts low and it goes way up there, and it’s not one of those pretty…I mean, it’s pretty, but, like, it’s not overly sensitive where it’s just always soft and high, and it’s not a falsetto. It’s like, I get to go for it in that record, so that was fun, you know.

DJT: We love you for that one.

JC: I get to scream, yeah.

DJT: And we got a chance to check out a club mix, so you guys just gonna have to get the album. You know, the CD’s gonna be out, I don’t know when the release is…

JC: The actual album, the entire album or CD I guess, is coming out sometime March/April, right in that area.

DJT: Okay.

JC: But the single is yours now, you know, I want you guys to play it so you can get people excited, you know. It’s time to get music goin’ again, you know.

DJT: Yeah! All right, well, we’re gonna come back and that’s when we’re gonna play it. That’s what I’m gonna do for everybody.

Part 2

DJT: JC Chasez! I just love you. And I love saying your name. But I wanna play this for everyone. This is brand new. It’s called “Until Yesterday” and you got it right here on 1023 Kiss FM. Turn it up, y’all. Brand new!

["Until Yesterday" is played]

DJT: I still have someone that’s here that has a big question for you. She’s got a few, but I’m gonna have her…come on, Sarah. Come to the microphone!

JC: Yeah.

DJT: Because she definitely has a question for you. Do you mind?

JC: No, not at all.

DJT: All right.

Sarah: Do you have any advice for someone who wants to become a singer?

JC: Uh, who wants to become a - do I have any advice for someone who wants to become a singer? Um, you know what, it’s just a matter of, just be passionate about it, you know. It’s not always about who’s the best technically. It’s about, in my opinion - and everybody’s got an opinion, of course - but, uh, in my opinion, it’s about who feels it the most. Not every song you hear is about what’s technically the most proficient. Like, you know, I would say, um, I would say in female voices like you would listen to somebody like, uh, well you would listen to somebody like Mariah Carey who is amazing technically, but then you listen to somebody like Sade who sings with all the emotion in the world, and I would say they’re both equally as good singers. They just have two very different styles. And so I would say the one thing that you should do is be passionate about it. Don’t hold back, you know. I think that your audience deserves your all, and if you’re looking to communicate this message, you should give it your all.

DJT: Awww! Give it your all! I like that one! And thanks, Sarah, for that question. And you know what, I thank you, JC, for takin’ out the time with us, hangin’ out with us. I know you got a lot of things to do and I’m gonna let you go, but uh, I think you’re gonna hang around just for a minute, at least to check this one out with me.

JC: Of course.

DJT: Of course, you gotta. Plus, I’ve still got on your stockings and your outfit. JC in the building!
