Interview on the red carpet at the Children Uniting Nations Academy Awards celebration dinner, 2/25/07

Brightcove: What brings you out here tonight?

JC: I’m here to support the cause and watch the Oscars, man, it’s like a double dose.

Brightcove: I know you have an album coming up…

JC: I’ve actually drafted the whole album around an imaginary person, so I’ve ended up calling the record Kate, which is this imaginary person I dreamed up. What I wanted to do was write my own story about someone and take you on this journey, so it’s a great rollercoaster ride about this love affair with this imaginary person.

Brightcove: Is it a brunette or a blonde? [Laughs]

JC: I don’t know, you’ll have to figure it out!

Brightcove: What’s the first single?

JC: They’re actually testing stuff at radio right now, so it could be one of two things. It could either be a song called “Until Yesterday” or there’s another song called “You Ruined Me.” So, uh…

Brightcove: Ooh.

JC: Yeah.

Brightcove: I wonder who Kate is! Are you sure it’s an imaginary person? I feel like Kate might be real.

JC: No, she’s an imaginary person, but she’s great.
