From baggy Baroque to ‘Burlesque’ and Bebe — with J.C. Chasez and Eva Longoria along for the ride

The first day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was all about femininity. On Sunday afternoon, models sporting rice-bowl coifs filed out in dresses of all lengths, in silk, jersey and even a material that resembled a trash bag at the “Welcome to Hollywood” show by Joy Han. Despite the title, Han’s prints found more influence in Scottish plaid or Baroque.
Next up was Dina Bar-El’s show, “Burlesque.” True to the name, the show started off with a limber Forty Deuce dancer, who impressively somersaulted down the runway and shimmied her pasties in front of J.C. Chasez. Bar-El’s collection of dresses was just as sultry, with each look channeling Veronica Lake or Rita Hayworth.
