‘Dancing’ just what the country needed
Alex Strachan

…The backstage interviews will never be confused with Mansbridge One on One, or even E! True Hollywood Story, and the “celebrities” spotted in the audience range from George Lopez and JC Chasez to the post-Cheers George Wendt. Not exactly Live from the Red Carpet-style star wattage.

And yet, there’s a warm, good-natured vibe there that keeps shining though. In troubled times — college shootings, the endless parade of carnage from Iraq, flag-draped coffins in Afghanistan — the TV audience just wants to kick back and forget their worries for an hour or two.

Monday’s Dancing with the Stars: What You Didn’t See

He’s in Sync: JC Chasez was at Monday’s show to root for fellow ‘N Sync-er Joey Fatone and he’s not surprised with how well he’s doing in the competition. “Joey can remember dance steps from when ‘N Sync was on tour 10 years ago,” Chasez told us. “What I am surprised is how much fun he is having. He isn’t just coming out here and doing a dance, he is having the time of his life.”

Brooke a Wish Come True

Brooke a Wish come true
by Meaghan Dorff

If this isn’t the Jonatha Brooke you expected, chances are you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Other surprises pop up in the song credits, notably the writing and vocal contributions of ex-boy-banders JC Chasez and Nick Lachey.

The song “Careful What You Wish For” was originally intended for Chasez’s solo album, but he opted instead to use another track, the smoothly flowing ballad, “Beautiful Girl.” Not only did the boys help out with Brooke’s album, her songwriting skill provided them with quality material for their own releases. Lachey’s internationally released LP, What’s Left of Me, features a cover of Brooke’s “Because I Told You So.”

What were such pop icons like to work with?

“[Nick] was just such a sweet, sweet boy, just a gentleman’s gentleman,” Brooke said. As for Chasez: “JC was just a ball of energy … I was amazed at what he could do vocally,” Brooke said, referring to Chasez’s ability to tweak his singing voice in imitation of different styles and artists.

…Adam Brody, holding court in the VIP area of Hollywood’s Cabana Club after the premiere of his film In the Land of Women. Brody chatted with party guests including onetime Heroes star Nora Zehetner and former ‘N Sync member JC Chasez. Chasez, wearing a scarf around his neck, later made his way over to Brody – and the two shook hands and laughed away in conversation.
