JC posted a new blog entry:

Happy Halloween!

So I’ve been in and out of the studio a lot lately, working with all kinds of different artists, producers and writers. I had a couple sessions with James Bourne, who was best known for his group multi-platinum selling group “Busted”. He is also a great writer. We worked with Sparky’s Flaw, Will Anderson (lead singer of Sparky’s Flaw), and producer Jimmy Harry.

I also headed to Santa Monica to meet up with Mark Hudson. He produced albums for Aerosmith and Ringo Starr. You might have heard of them ….lol. Anyway, we did a few songs together.

At night I ventured out to a couple events. I have to say I saw Kanye perform at the T Mobile party and I thought he gave a great performance. At the Rolling Stone Event I mingled with their publisher and said hello to Chris Brown and Janet Jackson. Dallas Austin flew in for fashion week so we ran around partied it up. Dallas and I went to see Pharrell and Fall Out Boy perform and Fall Out Boy did an amazing remake of Beat It.

And last on my list of fun things I did this month…… I started taking Salsa classes, and No I’m NOT doing dancing with the stars.

Happy Halloween - Be safe!

Backstreet Boys 2007: A boy band détente

Let us bring you back to 1999, when Britney Spears could still claim innocence, Lou Pearlman was flying high amassing a fortune off the sweat of barely legals, and Backstreet Boys (sales leaders at the time, and moving millions) and ’N Sync were sworn mortal enemies. My, how things have changed in less than a decade: An incarcerated Pearlman is facing fraud charges, and Spears seems endlessly in and out of rehab, family court, and sometimes, it would appear, an actual recording studio. As for the former boy band rivals, they have actually come together. On BSB’s Unbreakable, out today, you’ll find “Treat Me Right,” the first ever Backstreet Boys track co-written by an ‘N Syncer.

So how did this historic moment come to be? “AJ [McLean] and I had coffee,” says JC Chasez. “It’s funny, we never got to spend any time together. We would see each other at parties or awards shows, but everybody always put us against each other. Then one day, we were like, ‘We should talk music. Let’s goof off and write a tune.’” McLean and Chasez went into a Los Angeles studio to tinker, then took the unfinished song back to the boys. “The next thing you know, we’re all at the studio and I’m working out the parts,” he continues. “It was totally bizarre to me because I had all these preconceived notions but never knew who sang what. So I’d be going, ‘Oh, you’re the high guy, he’s the low guy, now I get it.’ So that was weird, but at the same time, great. They’re amazing singers and really hard workers. I can’t say enough good things about them.”

The Next Big Thing?

Blake Lewis

…I was especially pleased to hear he was working with BT, who produced Pop for *N Sync, and some great singles of his own. Also involved, quite randomly and yet fittingly sound-wise, is Rich Cronin from ex-boyband LFO! His first single is called Break Anotha, and I must say I’m not amazed by its greatness, but it is a good track. I think JC Chasez, who he sounds similar to, has made many better songs in this style, but it’s still nice to have someone new and high profile making this sort of music.

CHECK OUT THIS TRACK: JC Chasez of ‘N Sync is among the producers and writers credited on “Treat Me Right,” a classic happy-sad, poppy-heartbroken song of the era. Surely this pairing is tantamount to Red Sox and Yankees players driving together to the ballpark.

This would be comeback attempt No. 2, as 2005’s Never Gone didn’t exactly convince fans that the boys were back in town. To its credit, the quartet has hired some better songwriters — including former ‘N Sync’er JC Chasez — and penned a number of tunes on its own that are listenable.
