Phone interview with KZZP Kiss 104.7 in Arizona, 1/24/08

JC called in to tell DJs Johnjay and Rich about “America’s Best Dance Crew.” He also spoke freely about his experience as an adopted child. Download/listen to the interview at the station’s website

Partial transcript:

JC: The show’s great…it’s all about crews and breakdancing and things like that, which uh, there’s a couple dance shows out there obviously, but I feel like this one is more in touch with a generation that, you know, is young. And it’s real, you know, it’s a very real situation, and it’s all about kind of making it on your own. These kids really have to make it on their own, which I think is great. It shows a work ethic and a drive not just to do what everybody else tells you, but to take the initiative and go out there and make something for yourself.

DJ: I only thought dance crews existed in the movies, I’ll be honest with you.

JC: Not at all, man. I mean, you know, that’s part of like…when I grew up, it was kind of like the coolest thing was all these kids, you know, would be on there…it’s a way for kids to show off to each other and things like that.

Former ‘N Syncer JC Chasez knows a thing or two about dance moves (he rocked the “Bye Bye Bye” routine back in the boy-band day), and now he’ll be joining Randy Jackson at the judging table for MTV’s newest reality competition show, Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew. In a message sent to MySpace friends on Friday, Chasez announced his participation in the show, which starts airing Feb. 7.

MTV to air casting special

January 11, 2008 | Filed Under other projects, tv-best dance crew | No Comments

Randy Jackson sure knows how to dominate the airwaves.

MTV’s Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew will air a special casting episode on Jan. 26, 2PM ET, just 11 days after American Idol’s Jan. 15 premiere.

Dance Crew will consist of dance teams of five to seven members, each competing for America’s vote as “Best Dance Crew.” As with Idol, live weekly performances will result in audience votes and eliminations.

However, it looks like Randy will be too busy critiquing Idol contestants to act as Dance Crew judge. The judges lined up for Dance Crew will be Mario Lopez, Shane Sparks, and JC Chasez.
