Phone interview with KZZP Kiss 104.7 in Arizona, 1/24/08

JC called in to tell DJs Johnjay and Rich about “America’s Best Dance Crew.” He also spoke freely about his experience as an adopted child. Download/listen to the interview at the station’s website

Partial transcript:

JC: The show’s great…it’s all about crews and breakdancing and things like that, which uh, there’s a couple dance shows out there obviously, but I feel like this one is more in touch with a generation that, you know, is young. And it’s real, you know, it’s a very real situation, and it’s all about kind of making it on your own. These kids really have to make it on their own, which I think is great. It shows a work ethic and a drive not just to do what everybody else tells you, but to take the initiative and go out there and make something for yourself.

DJ: I only thought dance crews existed in the movies, I’ll be honest with you.

JC: Not at all, man. I mean, you know, that’s part of like…when I grew up, it was kind of like the coolest thing was all these kids, you know, would be on there…it’s a way for kids to show off to each other and things like that.

Nick: Hey, how are you, man?

JC: I’m good, man.

Nick: : Good. You’re on the coast right now?

JC: I am, I am, yeah.

Nick: Kind of a weird place with what’s going on with Brit. Is that all over TV over there?

JC: I got hit with like a text about it last night around twelve o’clock, so…

Nick: I bet you did. I bet you did.

JC: It’s like, “Heads up!” [laughs]

Nick: Uh, TV tonight. NBC’s Las Vegas - my wife’s favorite show on TV, by the way…

JC: Oh, excellent.

Nick: …starring JC Chasez. Congratulations on the gig. How did you hook up with the folks from Las Vegas?

Interview quotes from Maroon 5 CD release party

June 8, 2007 | Filed Under events, jc on the web, transcripts | No Comments

JC was a guest at the May 22 release party for Maroon 5’s new album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. You can watch a report on the event on the hollywood.com website.

A transcript of JC’s portion of the interview:

I love these guys…they’re fresh every time they come out of the gate. Their first single I think is great ’cause again, it doesn’t sound like everything else on the radio. It’s fun and it’s something…you hear it and it’s kinda like a breath of fresh air, a break from the mundane.

Music is about, you know…you’re supposed to express your emotions and everything, but it’s also a celebration, and that’s what dancing is. Most of the time, it’s about celebrating. Celebrating life, man, and living in the moment, and these guys have captured it from time to time in some of these records.

JC on Dave Ryan’s Morning Show - KDWB Minneapolis - mp3, 11.5 mb

Partial transcript:

Dave Ryan: You know, it’s so weird. Sometimes in this business, you know, you just like open the studio door, and like, in walks JC Chasez. And he’s just like a normal dude. He’s like, “Hey Dave, what’s up?”

Cassie: Kinda tired, long night…

DR: Yeah. And then he goes over and he’s making coffee. Now listen, I wanna tell you, JC, if I were you…

JC Chasez: Yeah.

DR: I would point to Eric and I’d say, “Eric…” This is your, what? Manager? Friend? Assistant, whatever…

FD: And snap your fingers! “Make me my coffee.”

DR: …accountant.

Cassie: [Laughs] Yeah, right!

DR: And uh, I’d say, “Eric. Make me some coffee.” But you’re doing your own thing over here.

JC: Because I want it made my way.
